Upstairs Show: Midnight on the Water

Midnight on the Water (Tom Krumm, Nathan Bishop and Daniel Hawkins) is a string trio featuring violin, viola, hardanger d'amore, cello, mandolin and guitar. Foolhardy enough to play almost anything, their concerts regularly stitch together musical influences from Ireland to Latin America and Bach to Chappell Roan. They have performed alongside musical legends like Genticorum, Jay Ungar, and Molly Mason at venues including the Ashokan Center's Summer Hoot, the Mt. Airy Contradance's Contracopia, and Andrea Clearfield's Szalon. They have taught at Folk College, the Ashokan Center, and the Pennsylvania Folk Gathering. Originally founded as a gig band, Midnight's performances for weddings and other events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region have earned the trio over 12 consecutive "Top Performer" awards on Gigsalad.com. They have also organized advocacy events for political prisoners and sex workers, and played benefit concerts for mutual aid in Gaza and suicide prevention. In 2024 they organized a continuous multi-sited concert along three different train stations as part of the ongoing effort to save Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill West SEPTA line. In 2026, They released their first two albums Stardrops Vol. 1 & 2 featuring guest artists Jay Ungar, Molly Mason, and Wayne Fugate, and an accompanying book of music and lore.
